Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Beijing (D)
Welcome to China. Upon your arrival at the international airport in Beijing, you will meet with guides and be transferred to the hotel. Check-in and take a rest at the hotel. Early in the evening, to familiarise ourselves with the city, we provide a transfer to Wangfujing street, a pedestrian and commercial street full of life with many shops and restaurants. Dinner included and return to the hotel.
Day 2: Beijing (L, D)
An exciting day awaits us. We will discover the highlight of interest in the Chinese capital. We will have a full day visit in which we will visit some of the main avenues in the city.
The Chinese Imperial Palace or usually named as "The Forbidden City" is the most majestic architectural complex in China. The structure is home to 24 emperors who ruled for almost 500 years. We will pay a visit to Jingshan Park in which the Coal Hill is located. It is one of the best-preserved imperial gardens in Beijing city. We stroll to the top of the hill to have the best views (depends on weather conditions) of the Forbidden City. We will walk through the immense Tiananmen Square one of the largest squares in the world.
Lunch is served. To be continued in our itinerary today, we will travel to the Summer Palace where is known as the Imperial House of the Qing Dynasty with the beautiful landscape of gardens and lakes. In the afternoon, we go for a tricycle ride through some of the traditional neighborhoods in Beijing, Hutong for example. When it gets dark, we return to the hotel, dine in and overnight.
Day 3: Beijing (L, D)
Today’s program is an excursion to explore the Great Wall of China (Mutianyu section, a spectacular architectural work). It has existed for more than 2000 years. The day will include a cable car ride up and down to one of the most scenic areas.
On our returning to Beijing, we will stop at an old military factory with its contemporary art. We then travel to the Temple of Heaven, the country’s largest sacred complexes also a World Heritage Site. Before head back to the hotel, we will enjoy a foot massage and participate in a Tai Chi class as a way to rest from this intense day. We will taste a lacquered duck dinner for the last day in Beijing.
Day 4: Beijing – Taian – Qufu (B, L)
After breakfast, we go to the train station. We take one of China´s state-of-the-art high-speed trains. At 300 km/hour, in two hours we arrive at Taian, situated at the foot of Mount Taishan, which is considered the most sacred mountain in China. We will transfer to the Dai Temple; this magnificent complex of Taoist temples was built since the 11th century.
Lunch will be served. After this, our visit will include the cable car that ascends to the “gates of heaven” of the sacred mountain. The last activity for today is to walk on foot up its steep staircase with other partners. At the end of the afternoon, we will travel on our bus to the city of Confucius: Qufu.
Day 5: Qufu – Xuzhou (L, D)
We visit the city of Confucius, the Chinese thinker of the V century BC, who was the initiator of Confucianism. Our trip will include a visit and entrance to the Mansion and the Confucius Temple. We then continue our route towards Xuzhou.
Lunch is included. We will discover the impressive underground Mausoleum of the Han Emperor, and we will be surprised by the sight of the terracotta army in the museum (similar, but smaller in size compared to the famous ones in Xian). Then, on the bus, we will pass by the incredible Lake Yunlong in the center of the city.
We come back to the hotel and enjoy dinner here. Time at night is at leisure for you. Take a rest or take a stroll down the streets around to sightsee the nightlife of the city.
Day 6: Xuzhou – Nanjing (L, D)
We leave Xuzhou in the early morning. In the afternoon, we arrive in Nanjing, a city of more than eight million people and considered by many to be the most pleasant in China. You will be amazed by the development of modern metropolis through observing activity and commercial life. Our route today is to visit the Purple Mountain, take a look around the Sun Yatsen mausoleum and have a glance at the picturesque Lingu Temple.
Free time in the later afternoon and at night is yours. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Suzhou – Tongli – Shanghai (L, D)
We leave for Suzhou, which has wonderful gardens that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Welcome to the silk producer city in the world, a city has the association of beauty and elegance. After that, we will have free time to walk along the picturesque Pingjian road.
Lunch at a local restaurant. After that, we go to Tongli, a charming lake town with its small houses next to the canals and their gondolas. We will offer you a nice boat trip. We keep on traveling to Shanghai.
When you reach Shanghai in the evening, check-in and have an enjoyable dinner at the hotel. Accommodation here.
Day 8: Shanghai (B, L)
In the morning, you wake up and spend time for breakfast at the hotel. Then our trip sets off a visit around this amazing city. The first destination of our tour route today is the area of Pudong, its location is across the Huangpu River. Currently, it is the key financial district with the skyscrapers: the Pearl Tower. We will wander around the Old City and the Yuyuan Garden. The Yuyuan Garden is a private garden built during the Ming Dynasty. We then experience a demonstration of the Tea ceremony. Drinking tea is a traditional and important cultural in China. On our tour, we will pass by Xintiandi, the famous fashionable neighborhoods of the capital.
Have a taste of local cuisine at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we go exploring Tianzifang, which formerly is a residential area with a reputation of narrow, labyrinthine traditional streets, its small craft shops, and art galleries. We finish the visit along the Bund. While we admire old buildings that remind us of the European trade influence, you can contemplate the beautiful skyline of the downtown and the Huangpu River.
When the evening approaches, you will be escorted to the hotel. We offer a boat trip to see Shanghai at night, but it is optional. If you can enjoy this trip, it will become an unforgettable experience.
Day 9: Shanghai – Luoyang (L, D)
Transfer to the station. We take the high-speed train, and in a little over five hours, through many sections of pretty countryside, we cover the 1,000 km to Luoyang. Lunch included. We see the impressive Buddhist caves of Longmen over more than a kilometer of the rocky walls of the river, where they sculpted more than 100,000 images of Buddha. We will include a boat trip.
Later in the afternoon, we transfer to the ancient city, where we cross its impressive wall, enjoy the great traditional activity on the streets.
Day 10: Luoyang – Mount Hua – Xian (L, D)
First in the morning, on the outskirts of Luoyang, we visit the Buddhist White Horse Temple, an extensive monastery and place of study where Buddhists come from all countries of the world. We go on our route to Hua Shan, the highest of the five Taoist Sacred Mountains, where we include lunch and we will get on the cable car. The scenery is spectacular and the atmosphere charged with spirituality. We travel to Xian, arrival in the late afternoon.
Lunch and dinner will be served for you.
Day 11: Xian (D)
We have arrived in a fascinating city where the silk route originated. In the morning, you will be accompanied to the Terracotta Army. This destination has been found with thousands of life-size clay soldiers underground. Later, we come back to Xian, spend time visiting the Small Wild Goose Pagoda engage in a brief Chinese calligraphy course. Then, we go across the walled center. We will go through the Muslim quarter and enter the mosque. This is a good chance for you to experience the multiple cultures and religions in the country. Our tour will continue to travel to the Drum Tower, in which we will enjoy a show of traditional instrument performance.
Have dinner at a local restaurant. Time after that is at your leisure.
Day 12: Lingfen – Mansion Clan Wang – Pingyao (B, L, D)
In the morning, after waking up and have breakfast servings at the hotel, we get on a modern high-speed train to travel to Lingfen. From here our coach runs to the Mansion of the Wang Clan, which was built in the period of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. Lunch will be delivered to you. Later, we go on exploring Pingyao, where is known as China´s best-preserved historic city. This 4,000 ancient building is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then immerse ourselves in the lure of this traditional city.
Later in the afternoon, we go back to the hotel and have dinner here.
Day 13: Pingyao – Wutai (D)
For today's itinerary, we will explore Wutai mountain, one of the most exciting spiritual destinations in China. This place is the center of the Lamaism (a form of northern Buddhism), located among green mountains and forests. There are more than 40 ancient monasteries (and a similar number of monasteries have been built in more recent years), which are home to a large community of monks. After that, we pay a visit to Nanshan Temple with tour guides.
Later in the afternoon, you will have time to look for some less-visited temples and respectfully observe the monks. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 14: Yanmenguan – Yinkxian – Hanging Temple – Datong (B, L)
After breakfast, we travel along a road of great scenic beauty between the mountains to Yangmenguan, which is near the border of Mongolia. In one of the mountain passes, we will visit a part of the Great Wall of China here. We will be able to take a tranquil walk, as it is an area with a very small number of tourists. Yingxian is our next destination of discovering, come here and enjoy a quiet picturesque village with its great wooden pagoda.
Lunch at a local restaurant. We continue to the Hanging Temple of Xuancong Temple. The amazing construction of a cliff on the wall will surprise you. Then have strolling in Datong with our coach until the end of the day. Datong is a city that has incredible walls and a rebuilt historic center.
Day 15: Beijing Departure (B)
We have breakfast at the hotel then come back to Beijing, arriving mid-afternoon. End of our China tour. Check the time of your flight in case you need an additional night. We wish you a memorable trip with the family.
